Long Island Railroad

Location:   Suffolk County, New York
Owner & Client: Long Island Railroad (LIRR)
Service: CPM scheduling and monitoring during the construction phase of the project.
Description: In January 1988, the LIRR began full electric service from Ronkonkoma, in Suffolk County, to Penn Station. The new electric operation offers passengers quicker and direct train service to Penn Station, reducing travel time by almost 30 minutes. The 23.5-mile extension enabled LIRR to increase service by 36 percent. Ridership has consequently increased by 55 percent since full electrification of the system was completed.

Improvements included: construction of sub-stations, high-level platforms, elevators, pedestrian overpasses, right-of-ways and pole replacements.
